Strictly Come Dancing star Thomas Skinner has been called out with claims that he fabricated a death threat after he deleted his post sharing one.

The former Apprentice star, 34, has had a rocky start to his time on the BBC reality series after facing a string of controversies, which have led to criticism online.

Skinner has been accused of sending himself death threats in a since-deleted post on X in which he shared a supposed screenshot from an online troll saying he ‘kill’ him and come for him in his sleep.

The message added: ‘Skinner, you’re a disgrace. Strictly doesn’t want you, the country doesn’t want you. Do everyone a favour and die before the live show next week’.

‘Lloyd must be nice, probably scared of his own shadow in real life, the little melt! Bosh,’ he said in his caption at the time.

One X user salman_1562 shared: ‘This is exactly how [Thomas Skinner] sounded in those text messages he cheated with his girlfriend. He’s now deleted the post after being accused of sending himself the DM.’

His screenshot also didn’t include any handle name or identifying features beyond the text message blocks.

Given the level of the backlash he’s facing, the reality star recently took to social media to rant about his treatment.

He wrote online: ‘Life ain’t easy. I’ve been kicked down and called every name under the sun recently and probably some of it I deserve, as yes I ain’t always right.

‘Certain people are doing everything they can to ruin me. Mainly Faceless accounts giving it large and abusing me, hypocrites making everything political.

‘Now I see people are fuming that I’m on Strictly…. and the funny thing is that the majority of them got “be kind” wrote in their bios. You couldn’t make it up.’

He shared that he planned to carry on despite everyone telling him to ‘kill [him]self’, saying people’s words ‘don’t break me, they build me stronger’.

And even revealed that while political parties across the left and right have tried to recruit him, he is ‘for the man or woman on the street who just wants to do better in life’.

Meanwhile, in an interview with The Sun, he spoke about the response to him posting a picture of himself with US President JD Vance.

He said: Since I posted that picture I’ve had loads of death threats. People saying they want me dead, saying I am this political figure that I’m actually not. I actually really ain’t. I couldn’t tell you what’s going on in the world right now.’

The TV personality, who has also appeared on shows like Celebrity MasterChef, runs several small businesses right now and is the author of the 2023 book, Graft – How to Smash a Life.

Skinner – who appeared on Lord Sugar’s BBC business competition in 2019 – debuted his dancing skills on Saturday’s episode of Strictly, where it was revealed his pro-partner was Amy Dowden.

His decision to join the 2025 line-up has been met with backlash over various reasons, including his scrutinised connection with the US Vice President JD Vance after they were spotted at a barbecue in the Cotswolds together.

There are also the recent revelations of a ‘two-week fling’ while married with a two-year-old son.

Even figures such as comedian Katherine Ryan have shared their reflections on his behaviour after he said his affair had been ‘forgotten’ to which Ryan called that an ‘inflammatory term’.

Ahead of the new season coming out, he also had to apologise after snatching a journalist’s phone during a press day.

It was recently reported that he had faced a legal battle with Bosch after he planned to use his catchphrase ‘Bosh’ to launch a homeware brand, although this has been refuted.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One every Saturday night.
