Netflix has had a big year in the sci-fi department, especially thanks to the release of War Machine, the big-budget epic starring Alan Ritchson from the Prime Video series, Reacher. War Machine earned enough views during its first 90 days on streaming to break into the all-time Netflix top 10 list, and the streamer has already confirmed that a sequel to the film, tentatively titled War Machines, is officially in the works. Netflix looked to replace Stranger Things with its newest sci-fi series, The Boroughs, which was even produced by Ross and Matt Duffer, who wrote and created Stranger Things for Netflix for the last 10 years. However, the cost of making The Boroughs was too great to justify another season, and Netflix canceled the show while it was still in the top 10.
