Star Wars & Dune Actors Lead A24’s New TV Show Based on Best-Selling Novel

A24 has bagged two major stars from Star Wars and Dune in its new TV show. Production on the upcoming series is moving forward amid the exciting update.

Aoife Hinds and Billy Howle are set to star as the protagonists in BBC and A24’s latest drama series, The Ministry of Time. Hinds will play Sophy in the series while Howle will play Commander Graham Gore (via Deadline).

The British actress has previously starred in the HBO series Dune: Prophecy as Sister Emeline. Other notable series she has appeared in include Normal People, Derry Girls, and The Long Call.

Meanwhile, Howle appeared in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and other popular movies including Dunkirk, Outlaw King, and Infinite Storm. The actor has also starred in television series like The Perfect Couple, Under the Banner of Heaven, Chloe, and The Beast Must Die, among others.

The Ministry of Time expands its cast as filming prepares to begin around London

BBC and A24’s drama series The Ministry of Time will begin filming soon in and around London. For now, just Aoife Hinds and Billy Howle’s casting has been confirmed. BBC will announce further casting “in due course.”

The series is an adaptation of Kaliane Bradley’s bestselling debut novel of the same name. It is a sci-fi romance that follows The Ministry of Time, a new government that rescues historical figures. They bring these “expats” to the present through time travel and teach them about the modern world with the help of a “bridge.”

The Ministry assigns Sophy to acclimatize such an expat, Victorian polar explorer Commander Gore. What begins as a professional relationship turns into a forbidden romance, inviting unknown dangers.

Director Lindsay Salt has commissioned the six-part BBC drama, with Alice Birch writing the screenplay. Birch also serves as an executive producer alongside Aneil Karia and Jo McClellan.
