Not many Star Trek fans would argue that The Next Generation is a better show than The Original Series, but there is some debate over the exact episode when the spinoff surpassed its predecessor. Although The Next Generation got off to a shaky start with a so-so debut season, it quickly picked up and became one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
