Chrono Trigger has taken a full seat in the Mount Rushmore of JRPGs. The iconic Akira Toriyama designs, the open-ended way it allows you to slip through time, and the old-school combat system helped it reach "greatest of all time" status. It's hard to pinpoint just one reason why the classic JRPG has caught on like wildfire since the SNES era, but strong characters are a huge part of why it endures to this day.
