Harmony Korine directed 2012’s Spring Breakers, the tale of a group of college students who steal money to attend spring break, only to become entangled with a dangerous drug dealer named Alien (James Franco). The film starred Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine in a crime drama that was a modest hit at the box office, but gained popularity online in the following years.

A sequel, made without Korine’s involvement or approval, was announced last year starring Bella Thorne. In a new appearance on the podcast Call Her Daddy, she revealed she was also writing and directing the film.

“The producers watched Colour Your Hurt, which is the movie that I just wrapped, an early cut of it. And they asked me to write something to see if they would like it,” Thorne recalled. “And they loved it! And now I’m writing and directing Spring Breakers 2.”

As to what fans can expect from the film, she teased: “I don’t want to get in trouble, but what I can say is it is so litty, litty McTitties. From start to finish, it’s lit as fuck. We are having fun. If you want to go to the theater and have fun, you’re going to have fun with this movie, that’s for sure.”

The star of the original Spring Breakers, James Franco, has made headlines recently due to unusual videos he is posting on the social media platform TikTok. The account has several posts showing the star promising he would reveal something revelatory, only for the footage he eventually showed to be of someone walking around in an alien costume.
