Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Update Given by Star

Shameik Moore is setting the record straight about a recent Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse rumor.

Moore has voiced Miles Morales/Spider-Man in both of the animated Spider-Verse movies that have so far been released: 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. A third movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is currently in the works and dated for June 2027.

What did Shameik Moore say about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse?

In a recent interview promoting his upcoming film One Spoon of Chocolate, Moore confirmed that he was returning for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The interviewer said he would be in it “twice,” to which Moore responded “three times.”

The comment went viral, as some sites took this as confirmation that a third multiverse Miles Morales would appear in the film. Moore, however, has clarified on X that he meant he voiced the character in three movies rather than there being three multiverse Miles in Beyond the Spider-Verse. 

It’s also worth noting that Moore doesn’t voice the Earth-42 version of Miles Morales who appears at the end of Across the Spider-Verse; that character is voiced by Jarrell Jerome and, therefore, it makes sense why Moore thought the interviewer was referring to how many movies he’s been in rather than how many Miles Morales variants he voices.

Plot details for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse remain under wraps at this time. The movie was originally planned to be released on March 29, 2024; however, it was removed from Sony’s calendar in July 2023 due to delays from the writers and actors strikes.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse now has a June 4, 2027, release date from Sony Pictures. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is currently available to stream on Fubo and FXNOW, while Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse can be viewed on Disney+ and Fubo.
