EastEnders’ Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) may be insistent that her fling with Zack Hudson (James Farrar) is firmly in the past, but the chemistry between them is still palpable next week.
The BBC soap looks like it is setting up a full-blown affair for the pair if forthcoming scenes are anything to go by, as they continue to suppress their desires for one another.
The pair first hooked up earlier this year ahead of Joel Marshall’s (Max Murray) trial for his brutal attack on his step-mum Vicki.
While Zack has long harboured feelings for Vicki, she quickly put the brakes on anything else happening after reconciling with Joel’s father Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw).
When Ross then unexpectedly proposed, Vicki came clean about sleeping with someone else, but managed to keep Zack’s name out of the picture – although her brother Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple) later learned about their night of passion.
Ross ultimately forgave Vicki, and with her indiscretion behind them, they are supposedly happily engaged.
But that threatens to change again next week, when Vicki offers Zack the chance to move back into their sister Sharon Watts’ (Letita Dean) place due to his financial struggles, which he initially declines.
Later, a charged moment between them prompts Mark to question whether anything is still going on between them.
Despite this, Zack later reconsiders Vicki’s offer to move back in after an emotional farewell with his son Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman), who’s been living with him the past few months.
Ross later witnesses a tense moment between Zack and Vicki, which she attributes to Zack’s financial woes – but with the trio looking set to become housemates again, it’s surely a matter of time before the situation implodes…
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 30th March at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
