OMG at this point we do just need a dedicated channel for the ITV soaps as once again, Coronation Street and Emmerdale’s schedules are going to be impacted by sports.
At the start of this year, the broadcasting channel launched a new soap power hour, with Emmerdale airing for half an hour at 8pm, and then Corrie following afterwards for 30 minutes.
The exciting new era has been regularly affected by ITV airing matches for rugby and football.
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest change.
When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale off air?
On Friday, March 27, Emmerdale and Corrie won’t air due to the England vs Uruguay football match at Wembley Stadium airing instead.
Fortunately, normal service for both soaps will resume on Monday, March 30 and if you don’t have time to check them out on ITV1 in the evening, they will of course be available to view on ITVX that morning.
What is happening in Emmerdale this week?
This week, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) will decide to tell the police the truth about being at the scene when Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) was killed by Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).
At Home Farm, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) seethes following the discovery Kim Tate (Claire King) wants Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) to inherit Home Farm when she dies.
Also, Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) sets a trap in an attempt to find out if Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) really is seeing Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).

What is happening in Coronation Street this week?
The storyline involving Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) is at the centre of the drama this week, as the Driscoll family finally find out that she’s been sexually abusing Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
Elsewhere, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) faces a worrying time as he learns that Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) has woken up – but will he confirm that he knows Kit attacked him?
Also, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) takes action amid his ongoing jealousy towards newly single Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
In other ITV soap news...
Last week, it was reported that Corrie and Emmerdale are planning on reducing screentime for some of its stars.
It has left broadcasting channel ITV facing a negative reaction as this also means the pay for the stars is going to be reduced.
It’s said that actors from both soaps are understandably not happy with the development, with a report claiming that some cast members will lose about a sixth of their income.
The new arrangement will see a number of stars film fewer scenes across the year. In a standard soap contract, an actor is guaranteed a minimum amount of appearances across the 12 months.
