Sophie Habboo has shared the drastic reaction husband Jamie Laing had over the prospect of becoming a parent a year before they announced their pregnancy.

The Made In Chelsea stars revealed earlier this month that they were expecting their first child in an emotional announcement online.

The couple wed in 2023 after meeting on the E4 reality show realising their mutual attraction in 2019.

But a year prior, Jamie walked out of a restaurant and left Sophie and her sister Georgia there after Sophie suggested she might be pregnant.

Speaking on their newly-titled Nearly Parents podcast, Sophie said that during a lunch date with Georgia and Jamie, she jokingly suggested she ‘might be pregnant’ after being a day late on her period.

‘We were not trying at this point we hadn’t really discussed it, and Jamie left the restaurant and never came back,’ she revealed.

With Jamie laughing along, she continued: ‘He left, he got up, I think you said “I’ve got to go to the loo” and you never came back from the restaurant.

‘Me and my sister were sat there and I was like “I think Jamie’s gone” and I was like “don’t worry he’ll be having a panic attack.”‘

When her sister asked if she was joking, Sophie said that Jamie was likely in a taxi or walking back home having ‘a five-minute panic attack’ over the prospect of becoming a dad.

Jamie confirmed that he was having ‘a mild panic’ saying it was ‘scary’ to think of becoming a parent.

‘You don’t understand how scary it is when you’re going into this world of having or thinking about having kids,’ Jamie said, much to the amusement of his pregnant wife, who branded him a ‘child’ over the statement.

‘What do you mean I don’t understand, I’m also in that world,’ she responded, with many commenters agreeing with her on the Instagram snippet.

‘It’s the “what do you mean I don’t understand” from Sophie 😂😂 absolutely cracking up 😂,’ Thiswiththem commented, while Nailtheday added ‘She’s carrying the baby Jamie!! I love you but SHUT UP.’

‘Jamie is literally Chandler Bing 🤣,’ Krishnaphotography joked, referring to a Friends episode where Matthew Perry’s character tried to run away when discovering Monica was pregnant.

‘What is he like!!! I can’t wait and see how he copes at the birth 😂😂😂,’ Traceylanephotography said.

Also on the podcast, Sophie shared that Jamie threatened to leave her over her ‘unbearable’ pregnancy symptoms.

‘We are leaving and I feel really sick this day, unless I have a piece of bread in my mouth, I feel I’m going to vomit. And Jamie gets his camera out and goes, “I’m going to vlog today”,’ she recalled.

‘I’m like, “What on my Sunday that I’m about to vomit all day long?” He’s told me he’s going to take me to Borough Market so I can eat the world, but it’s for the vlog.

‘And what happened was Jamie sits down and he goes “I’m going to call my friends and ask them what I should do about this. Because I’m going to have to leave you”.’

The couple both laughed along as she said Jamie wanted to leave her because she was “so unbearable.”

Jamie was quick to defend himself, claiming he was ignorant to the hormonal and physical changes that accompanied pregnancy.

‘The amount of people who are going to call me an a******e. Just a caveat very quickly, I had no idea the emotional journey that you go on, how your body changes.

‘I just didn’t understand the extreme things that go on and since having read stuff and by the way Sophie sends me stuff every day on Instagram, I am awe of what you go through. The hormone change is wild.’
