Very rarely does Sony actually give players a refund on games that they’ve downloaded and played. The last notable game that was refundable was Cyberpunk 2077, which was a technical mess when it first launched. It seems another game has reached those same lows, as players have shared that they are getting refunds for a newly released PS5 game.

Sony is actually giving PS Store refunds for the new PS5 game MindsEye

That game is MindsEye. Developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive, the third-person action adventure game launched on June 10 and was immediately met with criticism from players who purchased the game on day one thanks to the plethora of bugs and performance issues the game exhibits.

MindsEye players took to various social media platforms to showcase some of these bugs, which have caused a stir in the game’s community. Some players had requested PS Store refunds from Sony, but were initially denied. However, according to a new Reddit thread on the MindsEye subreddit, a player did actually get a refund.

As mentioned earlier, the last big PS5 game release that outwardly offered refunds to players was Cyberpunk 2077. However, that got so bad that it was delisted from the PS Store less than a month after release. It does not seem like MindsEye will get delisted as of right now, and Build a Rocket Boy is currently working on fixes that will hopefully optimize performance and stability.

“We are heartbroken that not every player was able to experience the game as we intended,” said the developer in a recent Reddit thread. “Our priority is optimizing performance and stability so that every player, across every device, can enjoy an equally high-quality experience.”

“We are fully committed to ensuring all our players have a great experience, and we will continue to provide frequent and transparent updates,” continued the statement. “We will do our best to respond to all your comments and feedback.”
