Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International has announced the completion of the second schedule of its upcoming Tamil film Seyon, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead. The production house shared the update on Friday, accompanying the announcement with a behind-the-scenes video that offers a peek at the world and characters of the much-awaited project.
“Stage two completed in the victorious journey of valour,” the banner announced, marking another milestone in the film’s production. While the makers have continued to keep the plot under wraps, the new BTS footage gives audiences a glimpse into the film’s intriguing setting and Sivakarthikeyan’s character.
Seyon marks a reunion for Sivakarthikeyan and filmmaker Sivakumar Murugesan, who made his directorial debut with this year’s Thaai Kizhavi. The collaboration also brings Sivakumar back together with Sivakarthikeyan, who produced Thaai Kizhavi. For Sivakarthikeyan, the film is another association with Kamal Haasan after their successful collaboration on Amaran, which was produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International.
A mysterious world around Sivakarthikeyan
The makers have revealed very little about Seyon so far, making the glimpses from the promotional material particularly intriguing. A recently released video appears to establish a fascinating dynamic between Sivakarthikeyakan’s character and the people of a village. In the footage, the villagers are seen treating him as a divine figure, suggesting that the film could explore themes of faith, power and mythology.
However, the exact nature of Sivakarthikeyan’s character and the circumstances surrounding the village remain unknown. The film’s title itself has also sparked curiosity, with the makers yet to offer a detailed explanation of its significance within the story.
Seyon has assembled an interesting ensemble around its leading man. Bhagyashri Borse, Raj B Shetty and Seeman feature in important roles, while Bala Saravanan, Singampuli and Aruldoss are also part of the cast. Behind the camera, the film boasts a strong technical team, with Santhosh Narayanan composing the music and Anbariv handling the action choreography. Vidhu Ayyanna is the cinematographer, San Lokesh is the editor and Arun Venjaramoodu serves as production designer.
What’s next for Sivakarthikeyan?
Seyon arrives at an interesting point in Sivakarthikeyan’s career. The actor was most recently seen in Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. The film received a mixed response from critics and audiences. According to Sacnilk, Parasakthi recorded a worldwide gross of approximately Rs 85 crore, although several other reports claimed that the film had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark.
Following Seyon, Sivakarthikeyan has several notable projects in the pipeline. He is set to reunite with Cibi Chakaravarthi, the director of Don, for another film. The actor is also expected to headline a project with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, whose filmography includes Chennai 600028, Mankatha, Maanaadu and The Greatest of All Time. Sivakarthikeyan had previously made a cameo in GOAT alongside Vijay, adding another link between the actor and the filmmaker.
For now, Seyon remains one of Sivakarthikeyan’s more closely guarded projects. With its unusual premise, an ensemble cast and the backing of Raaj Kamal Films International, the film has already generated considerable curiosity. The completion of its second schedule indicates that the project is steadily moving ahead, even as the makers continue to hold back its biggest secrets.
