Sinners has had a record-breaking opening weekend where it beat the third weekend of A Minecraft Movie, a viral video game adaptation starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa that swiftly became the second highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far and is in the middle of what may turn out to be a billion-dollar run. The new horror movie, which was directed by Ryan Coogler, stars Just Mercy's Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers. This is the fifth Coogler-directed movie in which Jordan has appeared, after Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
