While Season 2 of The Last of Us had respectable ratings, compared to S1, viewership was down overall.
The Season 2 finale (Convergence) had 3.7 million viewers across all platforms, a drop from the 5.3 million viewers for the Season 2 premiere.
The Season 2 finale was down from the 8.2 million viewers for the Season 1 finale.
While Season 2 is averaging 37 million worldwide viewers, it's still short of the global success of Season 1, according to The Hollywood Reporter. For comparison, Season 1 drew 32 million cross-platform viewers in the U.S. alone. HBO hasn’t released a U.S.-only figure for the current season.
The drop in viewership is attributed to a few factors, such as the long wait between seasons as well as the Season 2 finale dropping over the Memorial Day weekend.
