Ryan Gosling had a good thing going with Nicolas Winding Refn and Derek Cianfrance; Emma Stone is on a roll with Yorgos Lanthimos; but perhaps the greatest actor-director pair of the last couple of decades is Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese. The two are working on their seventh feature film together, What Happens at Night, which will also feature Jennifer Lawrence and will be released by Apple at an undisclosed date. By the time the movie is released, it is quite possible that the DiCaprio and Scorsese partnership will be a quarter-century old. The two began working together in the early 2000s, when DiCaprio wanted to shed his teen heartthrob image and take on more serious roles. Scorsese needed a star in order to get his movies made. Over time, they realized that their sensibilities matched, and there was no looking back.
