Reynolds explained that the accident happened in Vancouver after leaving a bar. He was 18 years old at the time. The actor said, “You know what? I’m not gonna drive anywhere. Even if it’s four blocks home, absolutely not.”

Reynolds said it happened shortly after making what he believed was the responsible decision. “I got run over by a drunk driver after making a firmly positive and wise decision for a young 18-year-old male.”

Rob McElhenney appeared shocked by the revelation. He admitted it was the first time he heard it. “What? How am I not hearing that? That’s the first time I’ve heard that,” McElhenney responded.

Reynolds then shared the extent of his injuries. He said the crash left him hospitalized for “four weeks.” According to the Deadpool star, the impact was extremely severe. “Oh yeah, broke every bone in my left side. He hit me so hard, his car was not operational. Yeah, very bad,” Reynolds said.

Despite the serious topic, Reynolds still found humor. He joked about the doctor who treated him. Reynolds thanked Dr. Meek at Vancouver General Hospital. He credited the physician for putting him back together. “I’d like to thank Dr. Meek at the General Hospital for putting me back together so kindly. Socialized medicine, he couldn’t say no.”

The accident occurred years before Reynolds rose to Hollywood stardom. Looking back, he described it as a life-changing experience that left a lasting impact on him.
