The Chicago Cubs are locking up their centre fielder.
The Cubs and Pete Crow-Armstrong are finalizing a long-term extension, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Crow-Armstrong broke out in 2025, achieving a 30-30 season and winning a Gold Glove.
He slashed .247/.287/.481 with a .768 OPS to go along with 31 home runs, 35 stolen bases and 95 RBIs.
Crow-Armstrong was the Cubs’ top prospect entering 2024 and the No. 16 overall prospect across the MLB.
His rookie season was nowhere near as good as his sophomore campaign. In 2024, he had a .670 OPS and hit just 10 homers in 123 games.
Crow-Armstrong was originally with the New York Mets before being traded to Chicago in the Javier Báez deal in 2021.
Following his impressive 2025, Crow-Armstrong also represented the U.S. at the World Baseball Classic. He slashed .263/.333/.632 with two home runs and six RBI in 21 plate appearances.
The 23-year-old will get a big payday after just two full seasons in the MLB.
