The Toronto Raptors franchise player has joined the growing list of players in the mix for the Jamaican national basketball team.

Barnes confirmed at Raptors’ Media Day on Monday that he has interest in suiting up for the Caribbean island nation.

“That’s definitely something I’ve been thinking about pretty hard, something that could potentially happen,” said Barnes.

Former Raptor Normal Powell has already committed to play for Jamaica, while twins Amen and Ausar Thompson are also reportedly considering joining the squad.

Barnes is eligible to represent Jamaica through his father, Scott Barnes Sr.

The 24-year-old former all-star has yet to participate in an international program at the senior level, yet represented the USA throughout his youth, including winning gold medals at the 2017 FIBA under-16 Americas Championship and the 2018 FIBA under-17 World Cup.

He most recently captured gold with the USA at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.

Jamaica will play in Canada during the 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in June and July.
