Famous actress Deepika Padukone was cast out from the cast of Kalki 2, and she has been making headlines for the same. A recent report hinted at the fact that Deepika was removed from the film after she demanded a 25% increase in her fees, along with a reduction in her work shift to 7 hours. Various sources have suggested that the filmmakers tried to bargain with the actress, but she was pretty firm with her demands. Now, the actress has posted on Instagram, sharing an important lesson taught to her by Shahrukh Khan on the sets of Om Shanti Om. Speculators wonder if this was a clapback at the makers of Kalki 22898 AD.

Deepika Padukone's Instagram post

Deepika shared an Instagram post on Saturday, posting a picture of her and co-star Shahrukh Khan holding hands. She captioned the post, "The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success."

Continuing the caption, she wrote, "I couldn't agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I've made since. And that's probably why we're back making our 6th movie together?"

Reactions to the post

Pretty soon after the Instagram post was shared, the actress's husband, a celebrated actor himself, Ranveer Singh, took to Instagram and commented, "Bestest Besties!" referring to Deepika and SRK.

Deepika's fans also flocked to the comment section. One of them commented, "May you be the best always; no downturn can touch you."

Another user added, "I'm so proud of you! Stand for yourself and never stop believing what you deserve! I love you."

What were the alleged demands of Deepika from the makers of Kalki?

According to a report done by Bollywood Hungama, Deepika Padukone had asked for a hike of 25% in her fees, and she had demanded a decreased work shift of 7 hours a day. The filmmakers tried to negotiate with the actress, but she refused.

According to Times Now, a source close to the production had claimed that "Deepika Padukone demanded a 25 percent increment on the acting fees she was paid for the first part of the film. That's not all; she put her foot down on shooting for just 7 hours a day. Given that Kalki 2898 AD is a VFX-heavy film, such short shoots were likely to shoot up the budget by a reasonable amount. The producers were willing to provide a luxury vanity to Deepika for rest in return for longer shoot hours, but she refused. They also tried to negotiate finances, given that even Prabhas had not asked for an increment in fees. She and her team refused to adjust on either."

Kalki's team announced the exit of Deepika

On Thursday, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, posted on their X account (formerly Twitter) and shared the news of Deepika Padukone's exit from the movie. They had posted, "This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration. We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works."

Unfortunately, Kalki wasn't the only project shared by Deepika Padukone and Prabhas that she had to let go of. Earlier, she was also removed from Spirit by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
