The PS5 remake of a fan favorite PS3 action adventure game may just have been leaked by its own developer. A blooper by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio suggests that 2009’s Yakuza 3 is getting a full-fledged remake, which fans of the series have been begging a long time for.
Yakuza 3 reportedly getting a PS5 remake with Yakuza Kiwami 3
Both Yakuza 1 and 2 got proper remakes with Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, but Yakuza 3 only received a remaster. However, if RGG’s own website is to be believed, we’re now getting Yakuza Kiwami 3 and it’ll likely be announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Several Japanese users on X (thanks, Reddit) posted screenshots of RGG’s website before it was scrubbed. I can confirm that searching “龍が如く 極 3″ site:http://ryu-ga-gotoku.com” on Google brings up Yakuza Kiwami 3 in search results (appears as NEWS · 龍が如く 極3 in Japanese).

Released in 2009, Yakuza 3 was the first game in the series to receive trophy support. The game released worldwide to positive reviews and garnered a massive fan base. A remaster containing cut content was released in 2019 on the PS4.
Tokyo Game Show 2025 will kick off on September 25. We’ll update our readers when the game is officially announced.
