Private Eye dubbed Donald Trump the “Kremlin press secretary” as it mocked him over his sucking up to Vladimir Putin.

The satirical magazine said the president was Russia’s “useful idiot” on its latest front page.

Under the headline “chaos in Washington”, the publication also poked fun at Katie Zacharia, who lasted just five days as White House press secretary after enduring a disastrous briefing.

A speech bubble coming out of her mouth said: “I’m a useless idiot” under the headline “White House Press Secretary Quits”.

The brutal jibe follows a fortnight in which Trump has appeared to go out of his way to please Putin as he tries to end the Ukraine war.

The president struck a controversial deal to buy diesel from Russia, and also waived sweeping new sanctions on the country just days before they were due to come into force.

Trump also sparked anger by claiming Russia has been “fine on Ukraine” on the same day a Ukrainian toddler was killed in a drone strike as she was being pushed in her buggy in a park.

The president has also said the world is “the closest we’ve been” to a peace deal, despite Russia continuing its bombing campaign.
