Prime Video’s Master Swordsman Anime Returns in Action-Packed Season 2 Trailer

The trailer for Season 2 of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, Prime Video’s acclaimed anime series, has finally dropped. It offers fans a glimpse of Beryl Gardenant’s next journey. The upcoming season will also introduce four new voice actors.

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 gets trailer and four new voices

NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan has unveiled a trailer for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2. It promises an action-packed season, continuing to build on the previous season’s grounded swordplay and character-driven storytelling.

Season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Japan, and will be broadcast in the IMAnimation W programming block on TV Asahi, as well as on BS Asahi and AT-X. It will later become available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video from Thursday, July 9.

Notably, Season 2 will be animated by two studios, Passione and Hayabusa Film, with Akio Kazumi serving as the director. The new season will also feature four new characters:

The From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman anime is based on the light novel series by Shigeru Sagazaki. It first appeared as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in November 2020. Square Enix later published it as a light novel in April 2021 under their SQEX Novel imprint.

The story follows Beryl Gardenant, a middle-aged swordsman who runs a small dojo in a village. His peaceful life changes when one of his former students, now the leader of the knights of the Liberion Order, recruits him to become an instructor in the capital. He slowly realizes that many of his students have achieved high status using his sword-fighting techniques. Season 1 featured 13 episodes, all of which are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
