House of the Dragon season 2's ending disappointed many, primarily due to HBO's internal decision to shorten the installment from 10 episodes to eight. This meant that the final moments of season 2 felt a lot like setup, with the two opening episodes of season 3 paying off that setup. House of the Dragon season 3, episode 2 is proof of that, as was the premiere a week before.
