PS Plus classic game

A heads-up for PS Plus Premium users: the best version of one of the new classic games added today is only available in Japan, but is accessible outside of the country with a simple trick. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams‘ Western release is notoriously unbalanced and has fewer features than the Japanese edition, which is playable in English.

How to download PS Plus classic Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams’ Japanese version

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams’ Japanese version includes both English voice and text. The combat and difficulty — especially boss fights — are well-balanced, and what’s more, the Japanese version comes with additional difficulty options.

If you don’t want an exercise in frustration and want to play the best version, simply change your PS5 or PS4 console’s language to Japanese, as pointed out by ResetEra user Jawmuncher. Unfortunately, there’s no other way to select this version.

Nevermind—to activate the Japanese binary, your PS4/5 console language must be set to Japanese. Then the Japanese version of Onimusha Dawn of Dreams will play, with difficulty modes.

I can confirm the Japanese version is based on the PS2 Best Price release with Beginner mode. https://t.co/lNEnxtogga

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is also available to purchase as a stand-alone product via the PS Store.

“Step back into Feudal Japan and rise as Oni of the Ash — Soki, a strong young warrior, joins forces with his allies to take on powerful demons called Genma,” an official overview reads. “With Oda Nobunaga’s demise, the Genma forces rampaging throughout Japan vanish. Toyotomi Hideyoshi takes control of the land, leading many to believe that peace has returned.”

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is now available in the Premium catalog in all regions.
