Philip Rivers’ comeback tour is getting renewed for another week.

The Indianapolis Colts are set to call on the 44-year-old at least one more time in a primetime Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers, head coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Monday.

In one of the most surprising moves of the season, Rivers returned to the field after retiring from the NFL following the 2020 season.

It was a desperation move for the Colts, who saw QB Daniel Jones suffer a torn Achilles while backup Anthony Richardson dealt with an eye injury and third-stringer Riley Leonard hurt his knee in a Week 14 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Against the Seahawks on Sunday, Rivers completed 18 of 27 passes for 120 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Colts nearly had the chance to win the game, as kicker Bailey Grupe nailed a 60-yard field goal with 52 seconds to go, but the Seahawks responded with a 56-yarder of their own on the ensuing possession for an 18-16 win.
