Writer-director Alex Garland has a good thing going with A24, shepherding the distributor into the big leagues with the dystopian thriller Civil War a couple of years ago. Civil War was the most expensive title that A24 had put its might behind, although it has since been overtaken by Marty Supreme. The progress will continue, fittingly, with Garland, who is putting together an adaptation of the fantasy video game Elden Ring, which will likely be the most expensive project in A24's history. However, between their first and second movies together, Garland made a sci-fi film that was distributed by Paramount domestically. But it was deemed too cerebral for a theatrical release in international markets. The movie is slated to be removed from the Paramount+ platform soon, which means that if you haven't checked it out yet, you might want to act quickly.
