As of this moment, Dune: Awakening is one of the most played games on the PC video game marketplace Steam. Developed and published by Funcom, it was recently released for PC with console releases slated to come sometime afterwards. While it may have been assumed it would release sometime in 2025, that is no longer the case.
Dune: Awakening Coming to PS5 in 2026
Announced by Funcom, the console version of Dune: Awakening coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is expected to launch sometime in 2026. A reason for why it will release over six months after its PC release was not given.
Dune: Awakening is an MMORPG based on the Frank Herbert novels and the Denis Villeneuve films. It allows players to create their own character and explore and survive the vast landscapes of Arrakis. Right now, it seems players are high on the new game. The Steam user reviews are currently “Very Positive.”
As mentioned earlier, Dune: Awakening is currently one of the most played games on Steam. As of this writing, it is the eighth most-played game on the platform with a new peak player count of 132,804 concurrent players.
“‘Find the Fremen. Wake the Sleeper.’ This is the mandate given to you by the Reverend Mother, her deadly Gom Jabbar held at your neck,” reads the game’s description. “What follows is an odyssey across Arrakis, told through a rich cast of characters, with detailed cinematic cutscenes. Dune: Awakening pulls cinematic storytelling further into the multiplayer survival space. Walk in the footsteps of the Fremen as you learn to survive the desert and uncover a past that the sands have buried. ‘Every person carries their past with them. Who are you?’”
Dune: Awakening is available for PC via Steam today. The Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, which cost $69.99 and $89.99, respectively, gave players five days of early access, as well as exclusive in-game items.
