A woman has been arrested on suspicion of abusing her boyfriend’s kids after one of them wrote ‘pleas help us’ on a Post-it note.

Katrina Carrilo, 25, was detained after her boyfriend’s nine-year-old son’s pink Post-it was discovered in March, court records seen by local10 said.

This prompted an investigation by police which led to her being taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday.

It is not known where the note was left or who discovered it.

But it prompted the Florida Department of Children and Families to step in.

The boy and his brother were later removed from the property and have spoken to investigators, it was reported.

During interviews, the nine-year-old claimed that Carrilo pinned him to the ground and beat him before trying to smother him with a blanket and a pillow.

According to the reports, the boy told the interviewer that it felt like he ‘was not breathing’.

Detectives then met with Carrilo at the Miami Police Department headquarters where she denied the accusations.

The report said that she told officers that she ‘disciplines her children and not her boyfriend’s’.

She was then arrested and prosecutors charged her with felony child abuse.

Later that day she posted a £3,750 ($5,000) bail.

The court ordered her to stay away from her boyfriend’s children.

Her next court date is not known.
