New Justice League & Avengers Crossover Reveals Variant Cover by Alex Ross

The variant cover for the iconic 2003-2004 JLA/Avengers crossover has recently been released by DC Comics. The Justice League of America and the Avengers appeared in a comic book series in 2003, written by Kurt Busiek and illustrated by George Pérez.

DC Comics has unveiled the variant cover for the JLA/Avengers crossover event, illustrated by Alex Ross.

The JLA/Avengers crossover comic book series was published from September 2003 to March 2004. In their announcement, DC conveyed that the Avengers/JLA #4 is getting a re-release. The variant cover will drop in August this year. It has been split into two parts. The first half, titled JLA/Avengers #3 and featuring the Avengers, is set to release in July by Marvel Comics. DC will drop the other half, Avengers/JLA #4, with the cover featuring the Justice League of America.

The cover depicts heroes from both universes facing off. Sharing the cover on X (formerly Twitter) user The Top Comics wrote, “New JLA/Avengers art by Alex Ross. It will be used for the relaunch of this miniseries from issues 3 and 4.”

Ross also posted the cover on his Instagram account and stated, “New #jla #avengers #variantcover coming this summer Homage to the great George Perez.”

Furthermore, many fans chimed in to share their excitement about the release. A fan went on to comment, “Pure art The great Alex returning in style for the most anticipated crossover of the two decades.” An Instagram user commented, “This is so beautiful. You did George Pérez justice!” A user pitched that the cover could work as a video game poster and conveyed, “Cover for a game that could exist as Marvel vs DC: Gods and Mortals.” Additionally, a fan praised Ross’ work and asserted, “Omg this is awsmm..you are the greatest artist sir….”
