The science fiction genre often capitalizes on the psychological horror of an unseen enemy, be it an alien invasion story like Disclosure Dayor a single-location setting like Netflix’s The Last House. The thrill of watching a protagonist survive the horrors of the unknown keeps the audience glued to their seats. Movies like Backrooms, The Martian, and Prey elaborate narratively on the theme brilliantly.
