New American Psycho Movie Eying The White Lotus Star as Patrick Bateman

Lionsgate might have found the perfect actor to play Patrick Bateman in the new American Psycho movie, which will be directed by Academy Award nominee Luca Guadagnino. This won’t be the first time that the acclaimed filmmaker will be directing a movie about killers, after previously working on 2022’s cannibal romance movie Bones and All with Timothée Chalamet.

Who will potentially lead the new American Psycho movie?

According to a new report, Gen V and The White Lotus Season 3 star Patrick Schwarzenegger is reportedly being considered for the leading role in Lionsgate’s newest film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 black comedy horror novel American Psycho. Prior to this casting news, Schwarzenegger had actually expressed his desire to star in the project, after responding to a fan casting post on X.

Oscar nominee Austin Butler was originally rumored for the lead role of Patrick Bateman. However, Lionsgate hasn’t really made any official announcement about his casting. Guadagnino will be directing from a screenplay written by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum). At the moment, further details about the project’s plot, creative team, and production start date are still being kept under wraps.

The American Psycho novel was originally adapted into the 2000 movie directed and co-written by Mary Harron. The movie featured an all-star cast consisting of Christian Bale, Jared Leto, Willem Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas and Chloe Sevigny. It centered around a young and wealthy businessman, who has a hidden personality. He may look like the perfect guy from the outside, but he’s actually a rising psychopathic serial killer who murders innocent people because of their insignificant mistakes.
