When the Chernobyl disaster erupted on 26 April 1986, there was no doubt about how dangerous the situation was. A nuclear reactor had exploded, and authorities acted fast, evacuating nearby areas, taking those exposed to designated hospitals, and decontaminating as much as they could. But, just over a year later, on September 13, 1987, in Goiás, Brazil, another radioactive incident happened, and the reaction was quite different.
