Netflix is reportedly developing a live-action TV series based on the “Persona” video game franchise.
Each game in the series generally focuses on Japanese high school students who must go through normal daily routines and build and maintain friendships while also dealing with supernatural threats.
Christopher Monfette (“Star Trek: Picard,” “12 Monkeys”) will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner on the series.
Among the many executive producers are the “Stranger Things” team of Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Robert Atwood. Also onboard are Story Kitchen’s Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson who are all working on the “Tomb Raider” and “Life is Strange” TV shows for Amazon. SEGA’s Toru Nakahara is also onboard.
Atlus’ P-Studios publishes the game series with “Persona 6” confirmed to be in the works. The next release is “Persona 4 Revival” due out in February 2027.
Netflix has multiple shows based on gaming IP including “The Witcher” live-action series and multiple animated shows from “Arcane” to “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” to “Devil May Cry”.
