Since its announcement, NCIS: New York has been billed as a homecoming for both the fan-favorite agent Sam Hanna and the actor who plays him, LL COOL J. Season 1 was filmed in New York City itself to add to the authenticity, and the first two episodes have been filled with New York energy, with the premiere even closing out to "Empire State of Mind." Yet, the circumstances for Hanna's return were less than ideal to start. The death of his friend and a Navy reservist caused him to put a pause on his covert ops work and link up with the local NCIS team to investigate. However, the incident has given him a new home within the NCIS world at CBS alongside other New York-born and bred agents, and now, he's about to properly get reacquainted with his roots.
