Capcom turned up with a Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 release date update at the September 2026 Nintendo Direct. It will be out December 4, 2026. Ascendance is also in development for the system. Previously, the company only confirmed and teased that a port was in development. The new trailer also offered an updated look at how the action game runs on the system.

The new trailer should look familiar to anyone who played Monster Hunter Wilds on a different system. It shows us heading into the Forbidden Lands area with the Guild’s exploration team to find what sorts of monsters live there and help reunite a young boy named Nata with his family that apparently lives there. The footage also confirmed local play.

This means we could see even more of Monster Hunter Wilds at the 2026 Tokyo Game Show than expected. Capcom already confirmed the title will be part of its lineup for the event. Those who attend will actually get to test out the Ascendance expansion. That’s the new addition set a number of years after the base game’s adventures and gets into new biome changes, airborne areas, and a new threat to monsters and the ecosystem.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 release date is December 4, 2026, and the game is already on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Ascendance expansion is also in development, and we’ll see that in 2027.
