Mario Kart World is the long-running series' most ambitious title yet, but it still takes some frustrating steps back from Mario Kart 8 regarding its split-screen implementation. Mario Kart has long been a beloved party game, with many installments supporting four-player split-screen. As online multiplayer has come to dominate the industry, though, Mario Kart adapted, albeit much slower than many other games. This is broadly true for Nintendo's first-party exclusives, where quirks with playing online have come to be expected.
