The female bombshell in question sent the star a voice note to confirm she was on her way to the villa.

In a surprise twist, it was revealed that she was from the USA and was hoping to turn heads as the first American bombshell.

Whilst no details about the impending star were revealed, the woman could be heard saying to Maya: “Hey Maya, I heard you want more twists.

“How about an American bombshell?

“Get ready, I’m on my way!”

After hearing the voice message, Maya quipped: “Alright, there’s the sweet sweet sounds of an American!”

The show’s boss, Mike Spencer-Hayter, previously teased there would be a huge week one twist that has never been seen before on the show and hinted that it could relate to this year’s bombshells.

The latest news is likely to spark speculation that each impending bombshell could be from overseas.

He told The Sun: “Something big is coming in week one. We’ve got a really big week one planned. It’s hard to say what we’re doing without saying it.

“It’s not a celebrity. We’ve not seen it before.”

Mike added that changes will be noticeable from the very start of the series.

He said: “There will be things happening for the first couple of days we’ve not done before and certainly in week one. During that week, there’s something incredibly big we’ve never done before.

“Hopefully we can do it. It’s quite experimental. I just think you can’t rest on your laurels, being like, ‘This is really popular.’

“We have to keep it exciting and tear up the rule book a bit.”

Mike also revealed that producers have broken with tradition by planning further ahead than usual.

He said: “We’ve mapped out two weeks, which we don’t usually do, to be honest. So we’ve got two weeks planned and one very, very big thing that’s never been done ever on Love Island. Globally.”

Mike recalled telling ITV’s head of media relations about the twist, teasing: “I told Justin what we’re doing, and I never usually tell people, and you were like, ‘What the f**k?’ You were very excited.”
