Despite fresh competition in the form of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch remake maintained its grip on the number one position on the global box office charts for the third weekend in a row. The movie has now passed multiple new milestones as it heads towards the ultimate goal: the coveted $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. It’s a feat that no Disney movie has achieved since last year’s Moana 2. And it’s not like the studio didn’t have an opportunity. However, all three of its big 2025 releases — Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and Snow White — underperformed commercially, which makes Lilo & Stitch’s run all the more special.
