Laufey is enjoying being recognised as “the one from Fortnite” after a collab with the hit multiplayer game earlier this year.

A number of her songs were also added to the rhythm game, while Laufey skins and cosmetics were available across Fortnite.
“I wanted it to feel really authentic, so I worked closely with my twin sister and creative director Junia,” Laufey told NME about the crossover. “She was very, very involved in every aspect [of the collab] to the point where she was helping me do the dances that are mimicked in the game. It’s very important that every part of what I do is a reflection of my world and my storytelling.”
In a new interview, Laufey has reflected on life after Fortnite. “It’s absolutely crazy,” she told The Hot Hits. “I was at a restaurant yesterday and the waitress was like ‘you’re the one from Fortnite’. I was like ‘that is me’. And it was really exciting.”
She went on to say that she plays Fortnite using Laufey skins. “Wouldn’t you? Why would I be a traitor to myself? It’s so fun to run around in the skirt or a long dress with a gun. Sometimes I’ll come across another me and we’re shooting at each other. Imagine if they knew it was actually me. That’s so funny to me,” she continued.
“My boyfriend plays [Fortnite] as me as well. Sometimes, because I’m not with him on tour right now, [he’ll tell me] ‘I saw you a couple of times today and I did have to kill you’. My friends tell me they kill me all the time. It’s very interesting but so fun.”
Speaking to NME earlier this year, Laufey said a Fortnite collaboration was probably something you might not expect from pop star who makes classical-inspired music. “When I started out, I was known as this jazz girl and people assumed I was timid and soft. Running around with a gun [in Fortnite] is absolutely the best way to show that there are so many more layers to me.”
The current headline act of Fortnite Festival is Lil Tecca.
In other news, a survival horror game based on the iconic Halloween film series has been banned in Australia and New Zealand – but not because of the violence.
