Kev explodes in Emmerdale and has a very Kev way of destroying life-changing evidence

There’s a secret going round Emmerdale – Kev (Chris Coghill) is the one who knocked Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) out cold and left him for dead. 

Why did he do this? Simply wrong place wrong time.

It left Billy in a coma with a bleed on the brain, and after the CCTV footage of the attack mysteriously disappeared, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was framed for the crime. 

But Kev comes to learn what happened – Ruby (Beth Cordingly) and Caleb Miligan (William Ash) ‘destroyed’ the footage to frame Joe, such is their hatred for him. 

This act also killed two birds with one stone as it left them with a bargaining chip to carry out their next plan – to blackmail Kev into destroying Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) business. 

‘It’s is complicated for Kev because Jimmy is Nicola’s husband and he’s trying to make things a bit better with Nicola as well, because of her relationship with his son,’ Chris Coghill reveals. Kev is caught between a rock and a hard place. 

Adding to Kev’s chagrin at being Ruby and Caleb’s pawn, Chris confirms ‘he hates them!’. 

The B&B is in financial dire straits, so Jimmy and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) are pinning their hopes on a new haulage deal. Ruby decides to intercept this shipment so that she can twist Jimmy’s arm into selling the business. 

Forced into compliance, Kev nicks the shipment, but is furious to discover it’s only nappies. He’s been done over. Ruby reminds him she holds all the cards, but has she met Kev? He is not one to be controlled.

‘Ruby thinks she can probably outmanoeuvre him [Kev], and Caleb thinks she has done, but when it comes down to it, he’s that much of a weapon, you just can’t combat it, can you?’ Will Ash teased of the outcome. 

As Ruby and Caleb sit in the café with the laptop holding the incriminating evidence, Kev spots an opportunity – ‘ A jug of water and a right foot.’ He makes sure to destroy what they have on him by pouring water all over the laptop and smashing it to smithereens with his foot. 

Sadly for Kev, it doesn’t end there. When he later gets a bit tipsy at Joe’s ‘sten do’, he waddles over to Billy and apologises for attacking him. He was so close! 

So Billy now knows but it remains to be seen if he’ll tell Dawn the truth. Kev warns Ruby and Caleb not to mess with him and that he’ll take them down if he has to. But will they get him first?
