Kelly Osbourne stopped wearing her engagement ring weeks before her split from fiancé Sid Wilson was revealed.
The heavy metal musician, 49, got down on one knee and proposed to his partner, 41, during her late father Ozzy’s final ever show with his band Black Sabbath in Birmingham last year.
However yesterday news broke that just seven months on the couple – who also share son Sidney, 3 – have now ended their relationship.
A source said that their relationship entered a ‘difficult period’ as Kelly tried to come to terms with the death of her dad in July last year.
‘Kelly has been struggling following the loss of her father. The grieving process has been incredibly difficult, and she’s been doing everything she can to cope,’ a source told The Daily Mail.
‘In truth, she and Sid have been facing challenges in their relationship for some time, and things were not as they appeared.’
It’s now emerged that Kelly had actually ditched her engagement ring weeks before their break-up was disclosed publicly.
In a recent advertisement for Omaze, which was in partnership with the homeless charity Centrepoint which Kelly is an ambassador for, she could be seen with a bare ring finger.
Joined in the ad by her mum Sharon Osbourne, as the pair talked Kelly’s ring – reportedly worth around £500,000 – was noticeably absent.
The ad was filmed last month while the mother and daughter were in the UK to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award for Ozzy at the Brits.
The last time Kelly shared a photo with Sid was on January 20, when she posted a series of snaps with him and their son to mark his birthday. ‘Happy Birthday Daddy Sid we love you so much!!!!!’ she captioned the post.
Then, on February 1, she shared photos from the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala, including several where her diamond engagement ring was clearly visible.
Sid proposed to Kelly with a bespoke custom-designed ring from Los Angeles based jewellers, Mouawad.
In a behind-the-scenes video shared by the jeweller after the proposal, Sid revealed he wanted the ring design to reflect his partner’s nickname – Honeybee.
He then detailed how Kelly was always ‘buzzing around’ and ‘spreading good energy’, and so he wanted a bee and pollen-inspired design.
The 18K yellow gold ring has a beehive-inspired structure, along with white and yellow diamonds, and a 2.5 carat diamond.
Sid got down on one knee backstage at Villa Park on the night where 40,000 Black Sabbath fans had snapped up tickets to see the band’s final show.
Sharing a video on Instagram after the event, Kelly joked: ‘Oh and this happened yesterday!’
The clip showed her and Sid standing in front of her parents, before launching into a speech: ‘Kelly, you know I love you more than anything.
‘Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you.’
‘So, in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly, will you marry me?’, he asked her.
After she accepted, Ozzy then asked for a glimpse of the ring up close while Sharon applauded.
Just over a month later, Ozzy died aged 76 after suffering a heart attack following tears of declining health, which had included a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. Two days after his death Kelly shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media, in which she wrote that she’d ‘lost the best friend I ever had’.
In recent months she’s hit back at trolls who have commented on her weight since the death of her dad, sharing last month: ‘There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.’
‘None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life.
‘I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanised in such a way!’
Kelly and Sid first met in 1999 at Ozzfest, the music event founded by her parents. However, they didn’t start dating until years later, eventually going public with their relationship on Valentine’s Day in 2022.
At the time she shared a photo of them kissing online and shared: ‘After 23 years of friendship, I can’t believe where we have ended up.
‘You are my best friend, my soulmate, and I am so deeply in love with you, Sidney George Wilson.’
Later that year, they welcomed their son. However, the last time she and Sid were pictured together was at the Grammys in early February.
The source who revealed their break-up said the couple had ‘tried to make it work’, but ‘ultimately decided that separating is the best path forward’.
They added that after ‘enduring a great deal over the past year’, Kelly was now ‘focusing on herself and her role as a mother moving ahead’.
