Katie Price has jetted off to Dubai to reunite with husband Lee Andrews after lengthy delays following a drone attack near the major UAE airport.
Earlier this week, thousands of flights headed from the UK to Dubai International Airport were cancelled, delayed or diverted after an Iranian strike caused a fuel tank to burst into flames in the vicinity.
The fire was eventually ‘successfully contained’ with flights once more resuming as Katie finally got to leave Gatwick airport after several hours milling around on Monday night.
She’s flown back to her new beau despite escalating tensions across the Middle East, which has prompted the UK Foreign Office to warn against all but essential travel to the UAE amid ongoing conflict.
Dubai’s location across the Gulf from Iran means it has been subject to falling debris, and thousands of residents, holiday-makers and passers-through have fled the city.
For most of March, travel to Dubai was halted by several major commercial airlines (most notably Emirates), although flights are now ‘gradually resuming’ – including the one with Katie in tow.
The reality star, 47, returned to the UK in February, just weeks after tying the knot with Lee, who is subject to a ‘travel ban’ preventing him from leaving the major international city (although he has denied these claims).
He has been sharing updates of what he has been witnessing since conflict broke out in the region on his social media.
Upon Katie’s arrival, he celebrated his birthday and shared snaps of what his wife had given him, including a heartfelt card and personalised pin badge.
The card called him her ‘forever husband’ and said: ‘I will [spend] the rest of your life celebrating with you. I love you to infinity, love your wife Katie.’
The former glamour model’s imminent reunion with Lee comes days after she appeared on Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.
Shortly after Katie’s whirlwind wedding to Lee, social media accounts listed the self-proclaimed entrepreneur as having a PhD from Cambridge Univeristy, of which the institution has no record.
‘He hasn’t got a PhD from Cambridge. It’s one in Spain. That’s for him to say why he’s got his PhD.
‘But it’s not for Cambridge. Don’t know where that came from. He hasn’t got a PhD in Cambridge at all.
‘He has got a PhD. I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen everything I need to see,’ she clarified on the morning news show.
During her defence, she added that he has a ‘diplomatic passport’ on which he is named Dr Lee Andrews and a ‘normal’ passport listed as Wesley Lee Andrews.
It’s also been claimed he has yet to settle the huge bill for their Dubai wedding at a luxury hotel; meanwhile, his ex has alleged he is a scammer.
