Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away in London on Thursday after suffering a heart attack. Industrialist and polo enthusiast was reportedly playing a polo match when he accidentally swallowed a bee which resulted in a fatal sting and suffocation. He was 53 years old.
As per reports, Sunjay's final rites are expected to take place in Delhi, but the process of bringing his mortal remains to India could be delayed due to his U.S. citizenship. His father-in-law, Ashok Sachdev confirmed to NDTV that the postmortem is currently underway. He even said that the repatriation of the body will follow once the necessary paperwork is completed. "The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites," Sachdev stated.

Sunjay, the chairman of Sona Comstar Ltd., has been a prominent figure in India's business and sports circles. He had a knack for motorsports and polo. He was earlier married to Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple had two children together Samaira who was born in 2005, and Kiaan, born in 2011. Karisma and Sunjay got separated in 2014, but their divorce was finalized in 2016. Post parting ways, Karisma raised her kids as a single parent.
Sunjay found love again with model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev after they met in New York. After five years of dating, Sunjay and Priya got married in a private ceremony in Delhi and they are parents to a son named Azarias Kapur.
Just a few hours before death, Sunjay had extended condolences to those affected by the horrific Air India plane crash. He had posted on X, formerly Twitter, "Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. (praying hands emoji) #planecrash."
Just days before his demise, he posted an inspiring quote on social media that read, "Progress demands bold choices, not perfect conditions. #MondayMotivation." The quote image read, "Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the 'what ifs' to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the 'why nots'."
As the news of his passing went viral, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora were seen visiting Karisma's residence to support her in difficult times.
