John Wick Producer Officially Decodes the Key to Jason Statham and Gerard Butler’s Success

On the face of it, both Jason Statham and Gerard Butler are coming off major box-office underperformers. Incidentally, their two latest films — Shelter and Greenland 2: Migration — were released in the same month and directed by the same filmmaker, Ric Roman Waugh. While Shelter grossed $53 million worldwide against a reported budget of $50 million, Greenland 2 grossed around $45 million worldwide against a reported budget of $90 million. However, producer Basil Iwanyk, best known for the John Wick franchise, revealed that every movie that Statham or Butler stars in eventually makes money.
