Several high-profile actors, including John Boyega, have joined the cast of a new sci-fi movie called Slime.

Slime is a new animated movie that will serve as Jeron Braxton’s feature directorial debut. Brian Ash wrote the screenplay and will executive produce, while it was previously announced that Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi will star in the film.

What do we know about the new movie Slime with John Boyega?

Per Deadline, joining Kid Cudi and Boyega in Slime are Willow Smith, Teyana Taylor, Anna Sawai, and John Cho.

“Set in a too-near future, Slime follows Muna (Smith), an optimistic but broke young woman who signs up for a paid clinical trial, only to be injected with a mysterious creature’s slime that unleashes destructive powers she can’t control,” a description of the plot reads. “On the run, she kidnaps Glenn (Mescudi), the lab worker who injected her, and the two set out on a perilous odyssey through a crumbling dystopian world in search of refuge and a cure. But as the clock runs out, is Muna transforming into humanity’s worst nightmare or its last, unlikely savior?”

Kid Cudi is creating an original score for the movie and serves as a producer alongside Smith, Alex Lebovici, Karina Manashil, and Aaron Bergman. Ibrahim Mohammed, Chase Vergari, Craig Peck, Dennis Cummings, Brian Ash, Michael Learner, Jon Oakes, Christian Mercuri, Courtney Chenn, and Waylen Lin serve as executive producers.

In addition to playing Finn in Star Wars, Boyega has starred in 2011’s Attack the Block, 2018’s Pacific Rim Uprising, 2022’s The Woman King, and 2023’s They Cloned Tyrone. The daughter of Will Smith, Willow’s filmography includes 2007’s I Am Legend and 2008’s Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, while Taylor has been in 2021’s Coming 2 America, 2023’s The Book of Clarence, and 2025’s One Battle After Another.

Sawai is known for playing Elle Lue in 2021’s F9, Toda Mariko in FX’s Shōgun, and Cate Randa in Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, while Cho stars as Hikaru Sulu in the rebooted Star Trek film series. Cho has also been in 2004’s Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, 2017’s Columbus, 2018’s Searching, 2024’s Afraid, and more.
