Jodie caught out by Bethany in Coronation Street but she turns nasty

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has discovered Jodie Ramsey’s (Olivia Frances-Brown) plan against Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) in Coronation Street, but exposing her isn’t going to be easy.

Jodie, for some reason, believes that she should be with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), and has been busy destroying Shona in the hope they will eventually split up. Her tactics so far have included filling a baby bath full of boiling water to trick David into thinking that Shona was close to putting Harper’s life at risk, and playing a recording of Harper crying so Shona grows paranoid.

Last week, Jodie and Shona’s dad Doug (Steve Evets) grew suspicious when he spotted Jodie with David. He then confronted Jodie when she began showing off a massive bunch of flowers. Jodie told her dad that the flowers came from David, because they’re secretly seeing each other. She claimed that they had tried to ignore their chemistry, but it eventually became too difficult.

Knowing that Doug would tell Shona and David about her comments, Jodie messed with her dad’s mental health medication. She also took a recording of some radio static and began playing it through a speaker, which left Doug in an erratic state.

Doug’s mental health wasn’t any better in today’s episode, and his concerning behaviour was spotted by Bethany.

In the Platt household, Doug told Shona that David is having an affair with Jodie, but his comments weren’t taken seriously. Jodie took pleasure in fuelling the theory that Doug had taken a turn for the worse and, because Shona didn’t really grow up with her dad, she had no reason to suspect that her sister was lying.

Doug was taken to a mental health facility, much to Jodie’s delight.

A while later, she was in the Platt home messing with the recording of baby Harper crying – and then Bethany walked in.

She immediately reached for her phone to call Shona and expose Jodie’s cruel ways, but the troublemaker wasn’t going to go down without a fight.

Jodie played the recording of Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) speaking to Bethany after they slept together. She made it clear that if Bethany goes to Shona, she will tell everyone that she slept with her mum’s ex-boyfriend.

It seems Bethany is trapped, which gives Jodie the perfect opportunity to continue her plan with David.

What will her next move be?
