Jessica Jones Fans Get Great News About Character’s Return After Daredevil: Born Again Cancellation

Jessica Jones fans have recently received a positive update about the character’s return. This comes as great news following Daredevil: Born Again‘s cancellation.

According to the latest update from Entertainment Weekly, comics creator Brian Michael Bendis is working on a new Jessica Jones comic. Reuniting with Marvel Comics on the occasion of the character’s 25th anniversary, Bendis’s Jessica Jones: Alias is a five-issue series releasing this December 23.

Bendis, together with Michael Gaydos, created Jessica Jones when they launched Alias #1 in 2001. While Jones’ return is now confirmed, Bendis stated that the character was always on his mind.

The 59-year-old stated, “I always thought about it. This was always a very personal book to us. As we were growing up, she was growing up. So every time I engage with her, whether it be in her solo series or in the Marvel Universe proper, it always felt like it’s a statement on where we were as creators on top of where she is in the story.”

What else do we know about the Jessica Jones: Alias follow-up?

The narrative of the new follow-up begins when Jessica Jones is asked to find a missing child who has special abilities. Jessica suspects that the missing child might be a mutant. While she is already navigating matters surrounding her own family with Luke Cage, she is bothered by how the family of the missing child is broken apart.

Reflecting on how the storyline unfolds, Brian Michael Bendis told Entertainment Weekly, “She [Jessica] can’t help but feel what that would feel like in her more complicated family dynamic with Luke Cage and the children. So she takes it upon herself to take this case with some help from some friends, and it immediately rips her life apart in every possible way.”

Marvel has further shared that Jessica Jones will travel to “the most obscure and bizarre corners of the Marvel Universe” while working on this case. The writer has shared that Latveria and Savage Land will be two of the locations she’ll pay a visit to. Hinting more about the plot, Bendis said, “She’s gonna head over to a perfect place where a leather jacket is completely inappropriate, and [it’ll] take her even further than that.”
