Jennifer Lopez recently sat down for an interview, discussing her latest film, Kiss of the Spider Woman. During the discussion, the interviewer asked how she managed to deal with her personal life struggles.

“Barely,” the Atlas star told CBS Sunday Morning’s Lee Cowan. “It was tough, it was a tough time, it was a really tough time.”

Cowan mentioned Ben Affleck, noting that he was one of the film’s producers. Lopez acknowledged his role, pointing out that the film would not have been made without The Accountant star and Artists Equity. “I will always give him that credit,” she added. Cowan asked if Affleck pushed for the film to be made. Lopez clarified that the two-time Oscar winner and his production company financed its development.

The Anaconda actress shared that her divorce from Affleck was “the best thing that ever happened” to her. “Because it changed me,” she explained. “It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow. [I] became more self-aware. I am a different person now than I was last year, a year and a half ago.”

She also described working on the film amidst her divorce as “the best and the worst of times.” “Every moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy,” she said. “And then it was like, back home, it was not great. And it was just like, oh, you know, ‘How do I reconcile this?’ but you get through it.”

Kiss of the Spider Woman hits theaters across the United States on October 10, 2025.
