After more than a decade of thrills, chills, and expansive stories, The Conjuring Universe as we know it is preparing for one last adventure with The Conjuring: Last Rites. Based on the renowned and controversial careers of demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the films), the series began in 2013 with the surprise smash-hit The Conjuring, before being spun off into a sprawling cinematic universe, headed by filmmaker James Wan. Over the last twelve years, Wan has led the series successfully as a producer and occasional director. However, while Wan’s genius and care are at the heart of the series’ success, there are many creators who have helped nurture the franchise. Among them are writer/director Gary Dauberman and director David F. Sandberg. Not only have the two helped create some of the greatest backstories in modern horror, but their 2017 collaboration made for a spin-off that rivals anything from the main series. Now, the long-anticipated adaptation of Until Dawnhas reunited the masters of scare and promises to be a dynamic reimagining of the game.
