The ending of Stranger Things was controversial for a few reasons. For starters, the "Abyss" looked more visually appropriate for a Star Wars-type story than the Upside Down that viewers had come to know, love, and associate with Stranger Things. Beyond that, the final battle that took place there felt sparse and anticlimactic.
